Issue Position: Promote Job Creation and Economic Development

Issue Position

As your Lt. Governor, I will work tirelessly to accomplish the following:

I want to use my state, national and international business relationships to assist in attracting industry to South Carolina and to promote economic development throughout our state. However, with the outstanding job Governor Haley and Secretary of Commerce Bobby Hitt have done with international industry recruitment and expansion, as Lt. Governor, my primary focus for job creation would be a chief advocate for small business. Small business accounts for about 7 out of every 10 jobs in South Carolina and is the backbone of our states economy. As a small businessman myself, I understand first-hand the challenges and struggles small businesses face today to survive. Oppressive government regulation and ever-growing bureaucracy serve as job-killers -- and small business people have enough to deal with already. Government's should be limited -- and serve ONLY to promote a pro-business environment that allows the free market enterprise system to thrive. My dad once said "I've never seen government regulate themselves into anything prosperous." He was right then, and it's still right today. As your next Lt. Governor, I will work to get government out of the way and keep government out of the way.
